Internships at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center

Veterinary Internship Opportunities

How do I apply for an internship?

The equine veterinary internship application requires providing a CV, 3 letters of recommendation, and a letter of intent. Applications for the following year are accepted each fall. Although not required to apply, an externship at the clinic is strongly recommended for consideration. Applications and letters of recommendation can be sent to beth@midatlanticequine.com.

What our equine training internship program has to offer:

The internship program is designed to prepare vet graduates for either residency training, or to enter private practice. We offer a rotating internship to obtain further training in equine surgery, lameness, internal medicine, reproduction, and general practice. The clinic currently offers 5 intern positions and will rotate them each through the surgery, medicine, and ambulatory services.

The interns at MAEMC are exposed to a wide variety of patients, including thoroughbred/standardbred race horses, dressage/jumping show horses, pleasure horses, and a variety of other equine disciplines. The internship provides strong mentorship by our board certified specialists (surgery, internal medicine, theriogenolgy, part time cardiology, dermatology, ophalmolgy), as well as field service veterinarians. Previous interns have gone on to complete residency programs in surgery, medicine, anesthesia, and ophthalmology.
