Internships at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center
Veterinary Internship Opportunities
The internship program is designed to prepare veterinary graduates for either residency training or to enter private practice. We offer a rotating internship to obtain further training in equine surgery, sports medicine, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, neonatology, reproduction, anesthesia, and ambulatory general practice. The clinic currently offers 6-7 intern positions.
The interns at MAEMC are exposed to a wide variety of patients, including thoroughbred/standardbred racehorses, show horses of all levels and disciplines, pleasure horses, breeding stock, and backyard equids. The internship provides strong mentorship by our board certified specialists--surgery, internal medicine, sports medicine and rehabilitation (in progress)-- and our field service veterinarians. In recent years, our previous interns have gone on to general and sports medicine private practices and to residency programs in surgery, internal medicine, anesthesia, diagnostic imaging, and ophthalmology.
